One of the major issues in relation to non-communicable diseases is how to prevent and control its spread. In my project, I study such preventive efforts made in relation to atherosclerosis, which causes cardiovascular diseases. Based on ethnographic fieldwork at a vascular clinic in Denmark, the project investigates how preventive capacity is build both among health professionals and patients. I am interested in understanding the spread of prevention from the clinic to the home: the way it moves, the form it takes and its transformations. The project thus explores the spread of prevention in socio-material relations.
